What exactly does that look like? Here are my top 3 tips!


.1. Identify and Research Mutual Connections Strategically: Not all mutual connections are equally valuable—focus on those who can provide meaningful introductions to the right people. Use LinkedIn or other professional networks to identify connections that are shared with your target contact. Prioritize mutual connections who have a strong rapport with the target contact and are likely to vouch for you.

.2. Ask for Introductions Thoughtfully and Respectfully: Reach out to your mutual connection with a personalized message explaining why you’d like the introduction. Be clear about your goals and how the introduction could benefit both parties (“I’d love to connect with [Name] to explore potential collaboration opportunities in [industry]”). Offer to draft an email or message for them to forward, making it easy for them to facilitate the introduction.

.3. Nurture the Relationship After the Introduction: Building a relationship with the new contact ensures the introduction leads to long-term value. Send a personalized message to the mutual connection and the new contact to follow up. Provide value to the new client (share an article, offer insights, etc).
